Design the call around the actual platform

Remote interpreting can support conversations between offices without travel. Confirm the platform, host account and delivery method: consecutive interpreting in a shared room, or language channels if the selected plan supports them. Do not assume every app or account includes the same features. Even a short call benefits from a briefing and a test using the account that will host it.

Illustrative scenario

In an illustrative three-location call, a laptop loudspeaker creates echo. Participants switch to headsets, mute when not speaking and let the chair assign turns. Materials shared in advance allow the interpreter to follow when screen sharing briefly fails.

Client preparation checklist

Send the meeting link, time zone, participant count and language directions.
Test microphones, headsets and host controls on the chosen account.
Agree a backup contact channel and obtain the parties' agreement before recording.

Practical point

Send names, context and likely questions with the invitation. A last-minute link alone is not an adequate interpreting brief.
